This is Modyul 5 of EPP-ICT for Grade 4 (Ikaapat na Baitang), titled “Marunong ka bang mag-download?” (Do you know how to download?). It is a self-learning module (Alternative Delivery Mode, Unang Edisyon 2020) from DepEd Region V, written in Filipino for learners studying at home. It teaches how to copy or download information found on the internet, and how to respect the rights of the people who created it.
What learners will learn
By the end of the module, learners are expected to:
- explain the process of downloading files from the internet;
- value copyright, the rights of the original authors of any work published on the internet; and
- download files correctly using the internet.
Types of files you can download
The Suriin part lists three kinds of files that can be downloaded from the internet:

The module defines downloading (pag-download) as getting a copy of a file from a website into your computer’s file system.
Bawal mag-plagiarize (no plagiarism)
Using another person’s text, image, audio, video, or other creative work without asking them is a kind of stealing called plagiarism. When you use someone else’s work, especially copyrighted work, the module gives these steps for crediting (citing) the original author:
- Write the author’s name, surname first: Boongaling, Jhom
- Write the title of the article in quotation marks, for example: “Mga katangian ng Isang Entrepreneur.”
- Write the name of the website or page in italics, followed by a period, for example: prezi.
- Write the date the article was published, followed by a period, for example: 3 Nobyembre 2013.
- Write the URL (web address) of the page where you took the work.
The module also reminds learners to read each website’s terms and conditions. It notes that using copyrighted materials is illegal and that downloading YouTube videos is prohibited by YouTube’s Terms of Service, but that Philippine law allows copyrighted materials to be used for study, especially when no one earns money from them.
How to download, step by step
Text files
- Open a browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome).
- In a search engine, type the keywords: mga matagumpay na negosyanteng Pilipino (successful Filipino businesspeople).
- Click the search button.
- Choose a result that lists successful Filipino businesspeople.
- Read the article carefully, then download the information you need to your computer.
- Use copy and paste to copy the parts you want to include in your report.
Music files
- Open your browser.
- Type www.soundcloud.com and press Enter or click Go.
- The SoundCloud homepage opens.
- In the SoundCloud search box, type: successful entrepreneurs.
- Click the search button.
- Click a file to play it. If it will help your report, click the download button.
Video files
- Open your browser and go to www.youtube.com.
- Search for: matagumpay na entrepreneur.
- Click a video that will help your research on successful entrepreneurs in the country.
- Select the video’s URL in the address bar, right-click, and choose Copy.
- Open a YouTube downloader program on the computer (the module explains how to download and install one if it is not yet installed).
- Paste the URL into the downloader, click the download button, and wait for it to finish. The video can then be played on the computer.
Parts of the module
- Alamin: the lesson’s goals.
- Subukin: a self-check where learners color a star red for skills they already have and yellow for ones they do not, plus a scrambled-word activity (internet, download, files, video, music).
- Balikan: a review of the previous lesson on web browsers and browser parts (address bar, tab name, navigation buttons, and others).
- Tuklasin: a dialogue, “Araw ng mga Guro” (Teachers’ Day), where Valentin, Carlos, and Abigail plan a dance and need a copy of music and a video from the internet, followed by six questions.
- Suriin: the lesson on file types, citation, and downloading steps.
- Pagyamanin: research and download five pictures of beautiful places in Region V and write 2 to 4 sentences about each.
- Isaisip: complete five sentences by circling the correct word.
- Isagawa: search for and download the lyrics of “Ako ay Pilipino” and “Ang Bayan Ko,” then memorize them.
- Tayahin: the final test on file types and citation steps, plus a task to research and download information on the parts of a computer and summarize the steps taken.
- Karagdagang Gawain: download five favorite songs and record each song’s title, singer, and why you like it.
How to use this module
- Learners: Start with Subukin, then work through each part in order. Do not write on the module; answer on a separate sheet of paper. Contact your teacher right away if a lesson is hard to understand.
- Parents: Help your child with the computer and internet tasks, and check answers with the answer key (Susi sa Pagwawasto) only after the activities are done. The module asks everyone to use the key honestly.
- Teachers: The answer key covers Tayahin, Balikan, and the scrambled words. For Karagdagang Gawain, learners may play their downloaded songs for you.

Isinasaad sa Batas Republika 8293, Seksiyon 176 na: Hindi maaaring magkaroon ng karapatang-sipi sa anomang akda ang Pamahalaan ng Pilipinas. Gayonpaman, kailangan muna ang pahintulot ng ahensiya o tanggapan ng pamahalaan na naghanda ng akda kung ito ay pagkakakitaan. Paunang Salita
Ang Self-Learning Module o SLM na ito ay maingat na inihanda para sa ating mag-aaral sa kanilang pag-aaral sa tahanan. Binubuo ito ng iba’t-ibang bahagi na gagabay sa kanila upang maunawaan ang bawat aralin at malinang ang mga kasanayang itinakda ng kurikulum.
Ang modyul na ito ay may inilaang Gabay sa Guro/ Tagapagpadaloy na naglalaman ng mga paalala, pantulong o estratehiyang magagamit ng mga magulang o kung sinumang gagabay at tutulong sa pag-aaral sa kani-kanilang tahanan.
Ito ay may kalakip na paunang pagsusulit upang masukat ang nalalaman ng mag-aaral na may kinalaman sa inihandang aralin. Ito ang magsasabi kung kailangan niya ng ibayong tulong mula sa tagapagdaloy o sa guro. Mayroon ding pagsusulit sa bawat pagtatapos ng aralin upang masukat naman ang natutunan. May susi ng pagwawasto upang makita kung tama o mali ang mga sagot sa bawat gawain at pagsusulit. Inaasahan namin na magiging matapat ang bawat isa sa paggamit nito.
Pinapaalalahanan din ang mga mag-aaral na ingatan ang SLM na ito upang magamit pa ng ibang mangangailangan. Huwag susulatan o mamarkahan ang anumang bahagi ng modyul. Gumamit lamang ng hiwalay na papel sa pagsagot sa pagsasanay.
Hinihikayat ang mga mag-aaral na makipag-ugnayan agad sa kanilang guro kung sila ay makararanas ng suliranin sa pag-unawa sa mga aralin at paggamit ng SLM na ito.
Sa pamamagitan ng modyul na ito at sa tulong ng ating mga tagapagdaloy, umaasa kami na matututo ang ating mag-aaral kahit wala sila sa paaralan.

Alam mo na ba ang mga paraan kung paano magsaliksik sa internet. Ngunit hindi dito nagtatapos dahil gusto mo lang na magkaroon ng kopya ng impormasyon na iyong nakalap mula dito. Paano mo ito gagawin? Ano ba ang mga paraan sa pagkopya ng impormasyong nakalap? May mga alituntunin ba na dapat sundin sa pagkopya ng files? Ito ang pag-aaralan natin sa module na ito.
Sa modyul na ito ay inaasahang matutunan ang mga sumusunod:

Pakatandaan ang mga sumusunod na paalala!
Iligal ang paggamit ng copyrighted materials at ipinagbabawal ang pagdownload ng mga video sa YouTube Terms of Service. Ngunit sa batas ng Pilipinas, puwedeng gamitin ang mga materyales na may copyright kung para lamang sa pag-aaral, lalo na kung hindi pagkakakitaan ang mga ito.
Isang nakakaaliw na Gawain ang pangangalap ng impormasyon sa internet. Ang pananaliksik sa website ay parang paghahanap ng nakatagong kayamanan.
Kaya’t dapat lamang na maging maingat sa paggamit sa gawa ng iba. May mga pamamaraan kung paanong mabibigyan ng pagkilala ang orihinal na awtor ng akda o gawa na nais mong gamitin.
Isaalang-alang din ang mga terms and conditions sa website na inilapat tungkol sa paggamit ng mga nilalaman nito.
Pagyamanin
Magsaliksik ng 5 larawan ng magagandang tanawin na matatagpuan sa Rehiyon V, i-download at sumulat ng 2-4 na pangungusap tungkol dito.
Isaisip
Masasabi kong marami ka ng natutunan sa ating mga aralin sa EPP ICT.
Kumpletuhin ang pangungusap. Piliin ang tamang sagot sa loob ng panaklong. Bilugan ang salita o mga salita ng iyong sagot.
- Ang (pag-download, video file) ay ang pagkuha ng kopya ng isang file mula sa isang website patungo sa file system.
- Ang (multi-media files,document files) ay impormasyon na maaaring i-download tulad ng word processing file, electronic spreadsheet file at portable document format.
- (Multimedia files,program file)ay mga files tulad ng sound files at video files.
- Ang (multimedia files,program file) ay application files na kailangang i-install sa computer gaya ng anti-virus program.
- Dapat lamang na maging (maingat,walang paalam) sa paggamit ng gawa ng iba.
Isagawa
Magsaliksik at pagkatapos i-download ang lyrics ng mga sumusunod na awitin at isaulo ito.
