Pre-tests are provided to measure your prior knowledge on lessons in each SLM. At the end of each module, you need to answer the post-test to self-check your learning. Answer keys are provided for each activity and test. We trust that you will be honest in using these.
Please use this module with care. Do not put unnecessary marks on any part of this SLM. Use a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises and tests. And read the instructions carefully before performing each task.
Long before the Spaniards came to the Philippines, the Filipinos already had their own culture. It was influenced by the Malaysians, Indonesians, Chinese, Arabs, Persians and other foreigners who came to trade with them.
Much of ancient literature was oral, community-bound and derived from the people’s experiences and observations. It consisted of folk narratives, riddles, proverbs, ritual chants, and epics. One of these epics is included in this lesson.
To help you appreciate this epic better, you will be helped to improve your reading ability, to provide you with a rich and stimulating learning experience.
This lesson will allow you to learn how the rich culture of the past shaped the way you are now and discover how to make the most of your strengths for the realization of the world’s ultimate goal—positive transformation.
